Transaction Transport Technologies (T3) Virtual Private Network (VPN) Service Announces Class B Certification on Vital Processing Services®

St. Louis, March 4, 2003

Transaction Transport Technologies’ (T3) Virtual Private Network service announced today that it has received Class B Certification on Vital Processing Services® (Vital ®) point-of-sale (POS) processing network. Vital is a recognized leader in technology-based commerce enabling services. With this certification, T3 can offer merchants access to a high-speed alternative to dial processing.

The T3 VPN service is designed for merchants who have upgraded from traditional dial technology to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)/broadband technology. Using broadband technology, a merchant can process an authorization request in 2 to 3 seconds versus the 20 to 30 seconds that it would take using dial service. Additionally, multi-lane retailers can eliminate unnecessary business dial lines by upgrading to just one DSL line that can handle multiple point-of-sale connections.

The certification of T3 encompasses the retail, restaurant, direct marketing, and lodging industries. All payment types, including debit, can be accommodated through the T3 network. The T3 service can be accessed by virtually any PC-based point-of-sale system and by Ethernet-capable point-of-sale terminals.

“We’re very excited about this certification with Vital,” said Bob Varner CEO, of T3.

Unlike SSL-based technology, VPN provides a merchant the added protection of a firewall to protect their business against Internet hacking. In addition, the T3 service requires no new API coding to the POS application, so any Vital-certified PC software can be upgraded from dial to DSL. The testing T3 completed included Ethernet-capable terminals marketed by BNA Smart Payments, Vital’s POS-partner 2000 software, and Hypercom T7P terminals connected through Precidia EtherDial.

“Vital is pleased to have T3 VPN service Class B Certified to our network,” said Denise Lewis, executive vice president of Products and Marketing for Vital Processing Services.
